World's Lightest 16-inch Laptop (Guinness Record)

We got the new LG gram laptops plural there's three of them here it's uh very exciting I've had this laptop in the past I've used it extensively it's called the gram for good reason it is incredibly thin and light and possibly thin and light in fact if you put this in your hands you're going to be surprised that such a thing exists it's really truly that like I think I was told earlier we got some world record lightness given the form factor of this variety of laptops 

What we have here is a WQXGA IPS display we have an i7 processor in there a 16 by 10 aspect ratio so you got that tall display that you're likely looking for productivity up to 17 hours of battery life and I love this one we have thunderbolt built in as well thunderbolt 3 which is a must in this particular environment we use it all the time for file transfer fast transfers and so forth they claim with the 17 inch model that it's the same size as other 15.6 inch models it's coming in at 1350 grams and they list it in grams because it's called the LG gram making it the world's lightest 17-inch laptop but with a 17-inch display what does that break down to in pounds do you have that spec jack 

So the 17-inch model it actually comes in under three pounds that quick conversion 2.98 pounds the 14 inch model is 2.2 pounds the 16 inch model is 2.6 pounds everything is under 3 pounds now since I have so much experience with the 17-inch version I'm actually going to put it to the side for a moment and kick it off with the smallest of the bunch the impossibly light 2.2 pound 14 inch model you can configure these devices with i5 i7 it's up to you WQXGA 1920x1200 eight gigs of ram 256 of NVME SSD storage ah okay laptop on the left crazy lightweight also inside the package we have our power cable and our power brick now let's remove the laptop from the sleeve ah so this one is the light color you're going to find two USB type a ports there is a lock connector and a micro SD card slot and then over on the other side is where you're gonna find your dual thunderbolt 3 slots you have a headphone jack for analog audio and a full size HDMI port as well and it's all packed into 2.2 pounds okay we lift up the lid and uncover the two-tone look to it so we have black on the bezel up top and then white on the deck down below now the fingerprint scanner built into the power switch which is a good spot for it since you have to touch there anyways you know I had to run a couple quick brown foxes on them ah there's a fair amount of key travel for something this then I could totally type on there why don't we move on to the slightly larger 16 inch model a lot of people like 16 inch models they think it's a kind of sweet spot a little bit more resolution on this one 2560 by 1600 16 gigs of ram one terabyte NVME SSD so we got a spec upgrade still got the fingerprint and the thunderbolt built in this is a slightly different color actually 

So we had the lightest version first this uh white model over here now we have a silver look ports-wise I think we're in a similar situation locking section two USB-a and a micro SD card slot over on the other side same thing still have two thunderbolt threes analog audio and a full-size HDMI port that's like a laptop you're gonna get some work done 16-inch display 2.6 pounds the trackpad scaled up and they have managed to fit a number pad in here as well over on the right hand side all right let's do a quick laptop stack and get to the last model which is probably the one I'll end up using the 17 inch it's like the only lightweight 17-inch laptop you're gonna find also i7 same as the 16-inch 2560 by 1600 same resolution as that 16-inch I've never seen one of these in black oh it's a nice matte black finish I don't mind that two thunderbolt threes analog audio full size HDMI port and then over on the other side same story two USB A ports, micro SD and that locking aspect all right let's see what the deck looks like on the black ooh it's hard to find a completely simple blacked out laptop well that's exactly what we have here not a ton of logos or branding I kind of like that okay 

So this one is booted up this uh display very vibrant 2560 by 1600 17-inch it is WQXGA IPS technology but it has well it certainly appears to have saturation and contrast it does have this glossy finish on it gives it a little extra pop but ultimately it's just a huge display for a laptop I use a lot of laptops and it always when I get back in front of a 17-inch model it's always striking because you just don't see them that frequently because typically they're really bulky and heavy anyway Instagram announced the launch of new features today starting with live rooms allows users to go live advantage of other drag new features there's the sound I was trying to figure out where it was as well it's hard to know where to even put your stuff this day and age where are you publishing where are you streaming where yeah all right so it's firing down towards the desk it's bouncing off the desk it's right these little guys these little grills can you see the grills these little grills right there that is where your sound is firing from let's try some music it's clear for dialogue if you want to watch LOU later let's try some music out okay yeah I mean maybe you won't put the chilled cow you want to put some Imax like this and it does have a little bit of low end to it not the loudest I've ever heard but you know it's got a little bit of low end to it I think it's sufficient for what it is especially you consider the weight of it 

I could get some work done you know what am I doing I could be studying myself got so much screen real estate I could just go I could go snap this to one side I could take another browser window I could snap that to the you know look at the real estate 17 inches and that's the other thing I should mention it's not all about resolution exclusively because oftentimes I'll end up with some high resolution laptop and then I'll be going in there to the scaling because I'm trying to find a comfortable uh the comfortable viewing situation you know what I mean as far as font sizes and such so you do need scales sometimes as well and this is kind of a nice mix at 2560 across 17 doing a trick so the 16 inch is actually a new model for LG in the gram lineup "it holds the Guinness world's lightest 16 inch laptop record" it has a compact size with the display size of 16 inches fits into the body of a 15.6 inch laptop all the new grand models come with 16 by 10 displays to enhance productivity giving you a little bit more height both the 17 inch and 16 inch model our WQXGA resolution 2560 by 1600 IPS technology dci p3 99 gamut and every single LG gram has intel's latest 11th gen processors with Intel IRIS XE graphics and also the entire lineup happens to be intel Evo certified all right 

So there you have it you are a person looking for a thin and light laptop but you don't want to give up screen real estate usability uh productivity things like this you're probably looking at LG grant you're probably looking at one of these if you want ultimate affordability you go towards something like this 14-inch model you want the in-between the mix the hybrid you get what is the world's lightest Guinness world record 16-inch laptop or you get the world's latest 17 if you want even more screen real estate remember it all comes in under three pounds you're hardly even going to notice it in the backpack that's the thing during travel even just walking around the office I could hold this I can hold this thing up with like one finger okay maybe two I don't know whoa! they call it the gram for a reason you.
